From August 11th to 18th, 2022 the European Championships in Climbing will take place. The individual disciplines Speed, Bouldering and Lead will be held on the Königsplatz in Munich, as well as the new combination format Boulder & Lead, which will also be climbed at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. These climbers from Switzerland, Germany and Austria will be there.

The German climbing pro Alexander Megos causes a stir with another extreme first ascent in the climbing Mecca Ceüse: Ratstaman Vibrations. Drilled in 2012 by Chris Sharma in the Face de Rat sector, the line has been attempted by numerous top climbers and traded as a potential 9c. Megos keeps quiet about the level of difficulty and speaks of one of the best routes in the 9b range.

The French-speaking Swiss climber Dylan Chuat has been staying in the Norwegian climbing Mecca Flatanger since the beginning of July. In the famous Hanhelleren Cave he scored various difficult routes, including Adam Ondra's endurance line Thor's Hammer.

With Nordic Marathon (130m, 9b/+) Seb Bouin opens an endurance hammer of the very best quality. His new route combines the Nordic Plumber line (8c) with the second pitch of Thor's Hammer (9a+) and the direct headwall of Hanhelleren Cave. Interesting to know for potential repeaters: The strong Frenchman climbed the last 5 to 10 meters due to the enormous cable pull free solo.

Janja Garnbret from Slovenia and Jesse Grupper from the USA climbed to victory at the IFSC Lead World Cup in the French Alpine town of Briançon. Alex Megos won bronze ahead of teammate Yannick Flohé. Best German was Hannah Meul in tenth place.
