The latest Shit: Retrofit climbing routes with 3D technology

Anyone who has undertaken a really difficult project often has to prepare precisely for the loads on the route. So far, this has been done at home on the campus ledges, in the bouldering room or the climbing hall. American researchers have now exactly reproduced outdoor routes thanks to 3D modeling. Gone!

Wolfgang Güllich is probably the best-known protagonist who has recreated a route to the smallest possible detail at home. Wooden slats, drill holes in wood pieces and a campus board were used to prepare for Route Action Directe, the world's first 9a.

Exact copy through 3D modeling

A few years have passed since the era of Wolfgang Güllich. Climbing halls with resin handles in numerous variations and many new training possibilities were added. The latest development now comes from the USA. American researchers digitized classic routes in North America with an 3D scanner and modeled handles and kicks. The result is an exact copy of the rock routes. See for yourself.
