Anak Verhoeven defies gravity

The strong Belgian Anak Verhoeven secured the first women's ascent of the Trad classic La Fuerza de la Gravedad (8b) in Vadiello, Spain. And because the crack roof suited her so well, she climbed the route once with and once without a kneepad.

The shape curve of Anak Verhoeven seems to only be heading in one direction at the moment: up. The most recent example is the ascent of the difficult Trad route La Fuerza de la Gravedad (8b), which she is the first woman to achieve. Contrary to the name of the route, gravity seems to be present in Carlos Logroño's route Viscasilla's first crack in the roof couldn't be harmed.

What a fantastic roof crack with finger and hand clamps - a unique style for Spain.

Success in the first attempt to climb through

It took the Belgian four days to decrypt the beta and memorize the placement of the mobile backups. She was then able to climb the impressive trad line in her first redpoint attempt. “I climbed without crack gloves because tape in the hand grips felt much better,” says Anak Verhoeven.

I climbed La Fuerza de la Gravedad first with kneepads and then without, because I thought it was possible that way too.
