Anak Verhoeven has achieved a lot that other female climbers dream of: She is a seven-time Belgian champion, has won various World Cups and the European Championship in 2017 and was the first woman to make her first ascent of a 9a+ sport climbing route. La Sportiva Living Legends shows how she made it this far in an inspiring portrait.
The Belgian Anak Verhoeven is one of the most successful climbers in the world. For a long time she was at the forefront of the competition circuit and won international competitions. In the meantime she has given up competition climbing in order to be able to concentrate fully on her rock projects.
The 26-year-old's success is not the product of a national climbing system, but is based on something she still holds dear to this day: her family. Since there were no coaches for the talented young climber in Belgium at the time, her parents Wim and Patti jumped into the breach. They were and still are an important basis for Anak Verhoeven.
