Alexey Rubtsov is rowing new boulders in Val Calanca: Last Samurai, Il Toro and Silver Surfer

The Russian professional athlete Alexey Rubtsov uses his recent stay in Switzerland primarily for the first ascent of new blocks in the Calanca Valley. With success. He opens Last Samurai (8a +), Il Toro (8a) and Silver Surfer (8b).

At the end of December, the Russian bouldered for the first time in the Calanca Valley in the canton of Graubünden. In Val Calanca he succeeded in the flash ascent of the 8a + boulder The Last Emperor. In the new year he focused on negotiating new lines. The Val Calanca is thanks Alexey become richer by two 8a's. He committed Last Samurai (8a +) and Il Toro (8a). "The boulders are not super difficult, but beautiful and will certainly be popular," says Alexey Rubtsov.

Boulder Silver Surfer (8b) first arrived

A few days later, Alexey announced the next - this time harder - first ascent. He succeeds in the first ascent of the 8b-Boulder Silver Surfer on a beautiful undulating rock formation.

"When I tried this boulder for the first time, I had the impression that it didn't have enough grips."
