Two alpinists also died in the Combins massif

Two mountaineers, an 38 year-old Italian tour guide and guest, left the Valsorey Hut (3030 m.ü.M) in the early morning of the 10. August. On the way to the Meitinpass (3610 m.ü.M.) they were surprised by a rock fall.

After being alerted by the guide, the emergency personnel of the FXB Rescue House, who went to the drop-off point despite the difficult weather conditions, were only able to detect the death of the guest. The severely injured mountain guide was flown by helicopter to the hospital in Sion, where he died shortly thereafter.

The second victim is also an Italian citizen. The formal identification is in progress.
