Dylan Chuat scores Beyond (9a+) in the French climbing area of Pic Saint-Loup. In addition, the strong French-speaking Swiss repeats a number of other difficult lines during his short stay.
"I never thought that such small holds could work on such a large overhang, and it's not even as extreme as I thought," says Dylan Chuat after his successful climb from Beyond (9a +).
“Kingline at its best”
Dylan Chuat is full of praise for French climber Seb Bouin's line: the elegant introduction to climbing, starting with a long pull and a jump on a tufa, then the transition into the wonderful second section. “And all of this while completing the route on what is probably the most beautiful tufa in the south of France.”
The French-speaking Swiss doesn't say much about the level of difficulty, especially since he doesn't really have an idea and isn't particularly interested in it these days. «I haven't been able to climb many difficult routes recently, but I trust the two machines Seb Bouin and Tanguy Merard who did it for me.»
Handle breakout at the top
Dylan Chuat was able to do so during his stay in Pic Saint Loup In addition to Beyond, you can climb some other hard routes, including Moksha (9a), Hélix au pays des merveilles (8c/+) or In Memorium (8b). He even climbed the 50 meter endurance hammer Moksha twice. For what reason? On his first climb, a huge handle broke right on the diverter.
He also had some promising attempts in Bouin's 9b test piece ACL. “It’s looking pretty good, I just need more time,” says Dylan Chuat
