Training with Janja Garnbret: The secret of the world's best competition climber

Professional climber and successful YouTuber Magnus Midtbo has already featured many well-known faces from the climbing scene on his channel. Janja Garnbret now joins Adam Ondra, Alex Honnold, and Tomoa Narasaki in a video that fans have long wanted.

48 World Cup victories, two Olympic gold medals, and multiple 2c onsight routes. It's almost unbelievable that all these achievements came from the same person. What's more, this person is only 8 years old. Janja Garnbret is hailed as the best competitive climber in IFSC history. She impressively combines athleticism, technique, and mental toughness. She also climbs intuitively, fluidly, and with an ease that makes even the most difficult moves seem effortless.

In the video, Janja trains with Magnus in her own small studio at Plezalni Center Verd, a bouldering gym just outside of Ljubljana. They talk about their training, perfectionism, the Olympics, and future projects. Her coach Roman provides exciting insights into Janja's skills.

She trains hard every single day as if she had never won a competition before.

What immediately stands out in the video is the relaxed, playful atmosphere. The two laugh a lot, joke around, and don't take themselves too seriously – even though they're currently planning tough competition boulders. Janja trains like she climbs competitively: strong and with a clearly visible passion for what she does. This combination of ease, modesty, and enjoyment of her sport makes her not only an exceptional athlete, but also incredibly likeable.
