Giuliano Cameroni climbs La Rustica (8c) in Val Bavona

The Swiss boulderer Giuliano Cameroni succeeds in climbing the spectacular boulder La Rustica, rated 8c.

The current year has got off to a steep start: Giuliano Cameroni. After the first ascent of Crystal ship (8c) in January he got the third ascent of the 8c + boulder in March Ephyra in Chironico. The third boulder in the upper eighth French grade on the 23-year-old's ticklist is now La Rustica (8c), a line that did not come easily to him.

For a long time I couldn't climb the key point and when I got through I almost threw it out at the top.

First ascent eight years ago

2013 showed the American Carlo Traversi the line to his compatriot Jimmy Webbwho was subsequently able to grab the first ascent of La Rustica. Jimmy cautiously rated the boulder as a difficult 8b +.

Appreciation through Nalle Hukkataival

La Rustica was repeated for the first time by the Finn Nalle Hukkataival in 2018. He said in no uncertain terms that the boulder should be clearly classified as 8c for him. Also Daniel Woods who hit the boulder in May 2019 climbed, agreed with Nalle and gave 8c for La Rustica.

For me there is no doubt that La Rustica can be rated 8c.
