The news about the 2023 World Cup will be presented by Unparallel, Petzl and Bächli Bergsport

Jakob Schubert achieves the best result in the lead qualification with a 41+ and a 32+ and moves into the semi-finals at the Sport Climbing World Championships. The 16-year-old Japanese qualified directly behind him Sorato Anraku and the young Frenchman Sam Avezou. Both had already shown their form in the Boulder qualification.

Highlights Day 3 | World Championships Bern 2023

Schubert said the first route didn't feel as good as he had hoped. “On the first route you want one thing above all: controlled climbing and a good start. However, it felt pretty uncontrolled and I really had to fight to perform well." Luckily it was good enough.

I'm still nervous, it's part of the competition. It's the World Cup, the stakes are high and the nervousness never quite goes away. But it's also important because it helps you perform and do well.

The German tag team also has positions 9 and 13 Yannick Flohe and Alex Megos delivered and in addition to bouldering now also in the lead the semi-final starting place for sure.

Adam Ondra continues as 7th

Compared to the Boulder qualification, things went well Adam Ondra significantly better for lead climbing. The Czech finished the qualifying round in 7th place. He felt pretty good, but also made a few mistakes, the veteran summed up after his performance.

I could have climbed a bit higher but I think the way it is now I have a good position for the semifinals.
