Adam Ondra climbs 9a project after 27 years | absolutorium

27 years after its opening, Adam Ondra succeeds in the first ascent of the 9a route Absolutorium in Beckov, Slovakia. It was set up by Czech climbing legend Tomáš Pilka in 1994. A video now shows the impressive ascent.

Beckov in western Slovakia was a popular climbing destination in the late 80's and early 90's. The Absolutní vědomí route, for example, bears witness to this. She is the first 8b+ in what was then Czechoslovakia. A line established 27 years ago but never free climbed is absolutorium. It starts on a ledge around 20 meters above the ground.

The route is awesome! Super rock quality, ingenious movements, it is long and homogeneous.

After 12 meters 8a + a tricky boulder problem follows. This leads to Absolutní vědomí. Adam Ondra first ascented the route on October 31, 2021 and describes Absolutorium as one of the most beautiful 9a in the former Czechoslovakia.

Ultralight climbing harness tested: Petzl Whisper

If I'm honest, I was immediately impressed with the Whisper climbing harness the first time I put it on. The feeling? Almost as if I wasn't wearing a harness at all.
