The fourth edition of the SAC Alpstein climbing guide was published this early summer. Author Werner Küng describes many new areas and over 400 previously undescribed routes. On the occasion of the new edition, we are giving away a copy with a personal dedication and signature from Mister Alpstein himself.
Werner Kung knows that Alpstein massif probably better than many an ibex sunning himself in the grass at the foot of the Wisswand or near the Rässegg. Accordingly is his Alpstein climbing guide has become the essential bag command for all climbing enthusiasts and is extremely popular, not least because of the detailed topos and the additional information about the routes.
Alpstein climbing guide: Over 400 new routes
A lot has happened in the Alpstein since the third edition of the climbing guide was published in 2011. New areas like Asher North or the wall base plates of Schafbergwand were developed and extensively renovated. It is therefore not surprising that the fourth edition has a fairly comprehensive update in store for the readers. All in all Werner Küng publishes more than 400 new routes - meticulously documented as usual.
The SAC Alpstein Climbing Guide 2022 contains 384 drawn route topos, 178 color photos and 187 overview maps on 45 pages. The very detailed schematic topos not only show the course of the route, but also contain safety points and length information on the rope lengths.
Werner Küng also describes multi-pitch routes as text and gives a brief summary of the character of the tour. Pictograms support potential aspirants in bringing the right material to the wall.
