In the remote peaks of southern Patagonia, three women have established a new alpine route. Angelina di Prinzio, Paloma Farkas, and Catalina Unwin opened a 900-meter-long line on the previously unclimbed west face of Cerro Steffen (3.300 m).

The two Italian alpinists Matteo Della Bordella and Marco Majori triumphed on the summit of Cerro Chaltén—better known as Fitz Roy—on September 7. At 14:30 p.m., they announced the first winter ascent of the majestic 3.405-meter-high mountain via the Goretta Pillar, just shortly after Colin Haley's first winter solo on the neighboring Cerro Torre.

An all-female expedition team has completed a new multi-pitch route in the Valle del Turbio in northern Patagonia: Apollo 13 (600 m, 7b+).

The French ski team of Aurel Lardy, Vivian Bruchez and Jules Socié has opened up new ski routes in the granite walls of Fitz Roy - an area that is otherwise reserved for climbers. The filmmaker Matthew Tufts documented their daring undertaking with impressive footage.
