Giuliano Cameroni with the first ascent of Baba Yaga (9a) in Val Bavona

A few months ago, Giuliano Cameroni from Ticino successfully climbed a new rope climbing route in Val Bavona: Baba Yaga, rated 9a.

Giuliano Cameroni is more and more in the footsteps of his father. This also opened numerous climbing and later bouldering lines in the south of Switzerland and thus shaped numerous areas. Now Giuliano is also turning more and more to rope climbing. Especially short and heavy lines cast a spell over the 23-year-old.

On the line for aesthetic and difficult lines

The attention of Giuliano is obviously not only due to the difficulty of the lines, but also to their aesthetics. As in the case of Simple Man (8c) Giuliano chose an exceptionally beautiful line for his first ascent. His most recent first ascent, Baba Yaga (9a) makes him rave again in the highest tones.

It's one of the coolest blocks I've ever seen. An absolute dream line and probably my best first ascent ever.

Baba Yaga runs along the roughly 10 meter long edge of the massive boulder and ends with a tricky but easy final section.
