The Zillergrund Wald bouldering area in the Zillertal is threatened - please sign the petition

The bouldering Zillergrund forest in Zillertal already has numerous blocks and has great potential for further lines. Now the existence of the area is threatened. The neighboring company Hollaus Bau plans to dismantle the granite blocks.

As Markus Schwaiger from the Austrian Alpine Association told the Tyrolean daily newspaper, the Zillergrund Forest, with over 180 blocks and more than 320 bouldering routes, is one of the largest climbing areas in Austria. "It is a special area that would be irretrievably destroyed by mining," says Schwaiger.

Are classics like Clockwork Orange soon to be a thing of the past?

"This is an absolute madness," Paul Steger is quoted by the AV-Zillertal section in the same newspaper. The area on which the rock would be taken for further processing would be twice as large with the extension. A decision in favor of the company would be very surprising, since the region has recently hosted one of the biggest climbing events in recent years (World Climbing Championships) and also focuses heavily on outdoor sports in tourism.

Long story short - Sign the petition

Verena Steiner from Kramsach has launched an online petition and asks for their signature. Please support her in her project. The more votes we get together, the better!
