Climbing elite united in Meiringen: First World Cup of the season

On April 16 and 17, 2021, an international climbing competition will finally take place again. The climbing elite gathers for the IFSC Bouldering World Cup in Meiringen.

Around 200 athletes from 27 nations are already on the starting list for the World Cup in Haslital, including all the big names from the climbing scene.

All "Haslital Mountain Festival Champions" from previous years, Aleksei Rubtsov (RUS), Jernej Kruder (SLO), Janja Garnbret (SLO), Miho Nonaka (JPN) and Kokoro Fuji (JPN) have registered for the start of the season in Meiringen. Adam Ondra (CZE), who won the 2019 World Cup in Meiringen, is also on the list of participants.

Highlights of the World Cup 2019

For Germany, among others, Alexander Megos, Jan Hojer, Alma Bestvater and Hannah Meul are at the start. Austria is represented by athletes such as Jessica Pilz, Sandra Lettner, Jakob Schubert and Nicolai Uznik.

Switzerland travels to the Bernese Oberland with five women and nine men. The Swiss team is led by Petra Klingler, who won the bouldering world title in Paris in 2016 and is the only one from the Swiss team to qualify for the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021.

All competitions take place under strict security precautions and this year unfortunately without spectators. The competitions will be broadcast live. The corresponding links will be published here in due course.
