Adam Ondra's holiday schedule? Climb hard routes onsight

While some were curing their New Year's hangover, others were climbing rock-hard routes - onsight! This is what happened in the case of Adam Ondra. He climbed six routes in the upper eighth French grade, four of them onsight.

After the Christmas days drove Adam Ondra together with his girlfriend Iva Vejmolova to the south of France to the climbing area Calanques. On the first day of climbing, December 29, 2020, he already scored four difficult routes: Les Massey Ferguson (8b +), Bleu (8b), Rio de janvier (8b) and Le Bilboqueur (8b +). The last red point ascent in the old year was the route Pepito in the Grotte de l'ours. In the topo, the route is rated 8a +, which Adam Ondra sees very differently.

It's fair to say that the Pepito route is completely undervalued. In my opinion, it's a solid 8b +.

Adam then allowed himself a day of rest on December 31, 2020 before he started the year with a roar on January 1, 2021: He climbed the 8c route D1 onsight. A look at the list of the strongest climbers reveals how strong Adam Ondra is.

He clearly tops the list of the most difficult onsight ascents with 88 routes in the area 8c and more difficult, including three 9a's. The top German climber follows the Czechs Alexander Megos. with ten routes that are rated 8c or more.
