Dylan Chuat opens Boulder SBédo (8b) in Val Bavona

Dylan Chuat announces the first ascent of a new difficult bouldering line in Ticino: SBédo (8b).

The optimal conditions at the beginning of April attracted numerous strong climbers to the south of Switzerland. For several weeks there was hardly a drop of precipitation in the southern canton and a nationwide cold front ensured optimal temperatures.

The external conditions paired with a pinch of fitness then led to a first ascent in Val Bavona. Dylan Chuat opened on April 7, 2021 with SBedo a spectacular 8b boulder.

The boulder is awesome!

Dylan Chuat

The line was from Samuel Ometz near the boulder Tomb discovered and now first climbed by Dylan. Three dynamic moves are waiting for the repeaters from SBédo, whereby nerves made of steel are needed for the last dynamo. The boulder can be climbed as a sitting start (8b) or with a standing start (7c / 8a).

It is difficult to rate the standing start because the last pull is the hardest and quite scary.
